Located within one mile west of Savannah’s historic downtown, a national heritage site, the West Savannah community has struggled with large rates of disinvestment and poverty. The Savannah Economic Development Authority (SEDA) is therefore in the process of implementing an action plan for generating self-sustaining businesses in the neighborhood. The outdoor community market is one of the initiatives currently in development. Neighboring Concepts is the master planner retained for the project, developing numerous alternatives and cost estimates to facilitate SEDA’s endeavor. The market will provide vending spaces for food, dry goods and produce, as well as offer a location with amenities for the display, sales and creation of artwork and crafts.
