As part of the CATS LYNX Blue Line Extension project, Neighboring Concepts completed the design of JW Clay Parking Garage. The building, located at the corner of JW Clay Boulevard and N. Tryon Street and across from the UNC-Charlotte Campus, will serve the University Area. Standing four stories high and accommodating 700 parking spaces, it features 18,000 square feet of street level retail along both N. Tryon and JW Clay. The design of the building focuses on the pedestrian experience, while providing efficient parking configuration and an effective wayfinding signage system. The structural system is a pre-cast structure accented by brick and glass featuring light-filled curtain walls on the stair towers. Incorporated are perforated metal panels, designed with various opening densities that provide a rhythmic break from the repeating structure they sit within.
