Michael is a Designer on the Neighboring Concepts Team. He holds a Master of Architecture from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Appalachian State University. He has won several awards including an AIA award for urban infill and a USGBC award for reusable small structures.
As a designer, Michael is inspired by places that connect people, celebrates landscape, and adds meaning to our built environment. He has worked across a variety of scales and typologies, including cultural, education, aviation, civic, urban design, office, mixed-use, single family, and multi-family. Being a project type agnostic, Michael strives to find the thing that makes a project special and developing it. He treats every project as a unique project that deserves to be explored with curiosity and rigor.
Michael loves learning about food, playing games, traveling, teaching, and making stuff.
If Michael wasn’t a designer at Neighboring Concepts, he would be running a small boutique lodge on the Mediterranean coast – cooking the food, growing the vegetables, repairing the doors.
