Julia Taylor is an Urban Designer on the Neighboring Concepts Team. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art with concentrations in metalsmithing and sculpture and a minor in Spanish Language. During her time at App State, Julia studied abroad in Costa Rica, Spain and Ecuador where she traveled to new cities and engaged with Spanish speaking cultures. In Costa Rica Julia studied biomimicry and sustainable design which first inspired her to become an Urban Designer.
Julia graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Master of Urban Design degree. Before going back to school to study urban design, Julia moved to Seattle, WA and worked for the REI Co-op, for whom she later managed teams in Greensboro, NC. She has a passion for placemaking and for providing equitable outdoor spaces for all.
If I wasn’t an Urban Designer at Neighboring Concepts I’d open an art gallery and artist collective in North Carolina.
